“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of The Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (CSB)
Logic and reason are sometimes enemies of hope. Hope is pure faith, and at times it defies logic and reasoning. Hope is not the same as a flippant wish; hope is spiritual because it is the activation of faith. It made no sense for Moses to march his people directly toward the sea, yet his hope in God allowed his faith and trust in God to see a miracle of epic scale.
Many Pastors and leaders in the world today believe hopelessness is at an all-time high in our culture; they think hope in God is at a dangerously low level. It’s vital that we allow the God of hope to fill us with joy and peace; hope, joy, and peace are a package deal. If we put our hope in God, we have peace because we know we can trust Him to take care of all the cares and anxieties we give Him. When we allow peace to rule our hearts, we can experience joy, and joy brings the benefit of strength, as Nehemiah taught us.
“Hope deferred makes the heart sick; but dreams realized are a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12
Without hope, we’re heartsick and ineffective for God’s kingdom; but when our dreams or answered prayers are fulfilled, we are fruitful and a testimony of God’s goodness to those around us.
