“Remember Abraham, ‘In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told…” Romans 4:18
 
I believe one of the deepest sadnesses is hopelessness; to give up and break trust with The Lord is the darkest void, some have expressed. When you have prayed and prayed, and it seems God isn’t answering and you’re stuck in a situation, perhaps you feel you have tried every suggestion, and nothing has helped. When it seems loved ones won’t respond, or your health won’t budge with relief, perhaps it seems your finances will never improve – every time you get a dollar, some unexpected expense occurs and requires $2.00. Some say, “I just can’t catch a break.” What we really need is a spiritual breakthrough.
 
Hope is faith; it isn’t a wish or wishful thinking. To have hope is to believe. Hope in God isn’t an option; it’s vital to our survival. God allowed Daniel to be thrown into the lion’s den – if Daniel had given up on God, if he had been angry at God for allowing him to be in the lion’s habitat, we probably wouldn’t know his name. There would be no story to tell; the Babylonian Times wouldn’t be interested in a headline that read, “Hebrew man given to hungry lions and dies as lion-chow.” The End. Hopelessness brings about endings that God didn’t write. Imagine if Paul and Silas (in Acts 16:25-26), in the jail, had lost hope and given up. What if those at Rhoda’s house were praying and they gave up – what if they had lost hope that God would or could deliver Paul and Silas from jail? Our faith wouldn’t be the same without these testimonies of God’s greatness.
 
You can’t have hope without faith; hope and faith move God to help us. We will never have a problem or situation God can’t solve for us. There isn’t anything He won’t help you with, nothing too personal, nothing too small, nothing too large.
 
“Everything is possible for the person who has faith.” Mark 9:23
 
The Lord often works through processes; for example, the Children of Israel went through the desert for forty years to the land God promised. The Israelites were concerned with a destination, but God’s focus was teaching them to trust and learn His ways on the journey. When we’re waiting in the process, hoping and believing for an answer, God is not only preparing the answer, but also preparing us for it.
 
The Lord our God is our healer, and He has healed you. He is our provider, our comforter, our friend, our strength, our restorer, and our creator. There is nothing He cannot do – trust Him, have hope in Him, believe He will come through for you, and He will be your peace. Be like Abraham and keep believing and hoping.
